Country Overview

The crisis in neighbouring Syria has resulted in more than one million refugees being displaced to Lebanon. With a government policy of restricting the establishment of formal refugee camps, displaced populations have taken up residence in over 1,700 host communities. As the Syrian conflict continues, displacement has been prolonged and continues to place a significant strain on basic services and intensify competition over access to affordable housing and livelihood opportunities.

IMPACT started working in Lebanon through its REACH initiative in May 2013. Since then, REACH has implemented a range of data collection and analysis interventions to facilitate evidence-based humanitarian planning at strategic and operational levels. In 2018, IMPACT also partnered with ACTED and Cités Unies France to implement a pilot AGORA project to support humanitarian actors and municipal authorities with area-based planning in the city of Saida.
